John Fisher Parish: will hold a Corpus Christi procession on Sunday, June 11 at 1 p.m. A freewill offering will benefit Evans and his family. Hear his story, ask questions, and stay after for fellowship and hospitality. The speaker will be joined by his wife and the attorney who secured his release. Evans was freed in September, after serving time for a 1980 killing that he did not commit. The evening will address how an innocent Black man, who was wrongly convicted by a white jury and imprisoned for 42 years, still managed to keep his faith. John Chrysostom: Joint Ministry on Racial Justice will hold a special presentation with special guest Leroy Evans of Chester on Tuesday, June 13 at 7 p.m. John is a member congregation of the English District, Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, a conservative Lutheran church that is headquartered in St. Robert Kieselowsky is also the executive director of PLM and is a graduate of Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne Ind. The congregation began in South Philadelphia at Sixth and Wharton Streets and when the suburbs developed after World War II and its congregants moved, relocated to Scenic and Madison Roads in Springfield in 1951. The significance of this date is the official beginning of the congregation with adoption of their constitution and service of dedication on June 1, 1848, Ascension Day.
